COTTON USA Tour Connects Apparel Manufacturers with U.S. Textile Mills
The COTTON USA Sourcing Program hosted the 2014 COTTON USA Uniform and Western Hemisphere Apparel Manufacturers Tour to the U.S. from Sept. 29 - Oct. 2, 2014. Manufacturers from eight countries throughout the Western Hemisphere met with ten uniform companies and 12 U.S. mills participating in the event. The focus of this trip was on the uniform industry - a new, growing and important market for U.S. yarn and fabrics.
The participants attended a seminar in Greensboro, GA, where they received information on the cotton market outlook, U.S uniform industry issues and updates, and the economic outlook for the U.S uniform market.
Participants also participated in a private trade fair where they had meetings with ten U.S.-based uniform companies: Aramark, Augusta Sportswear, Edwards Garment, G&K Services, Land's End Business Uniforms Division, OOBE, Parker Uniforms, Superior Uniform Group, VF Corporation, and Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing.
The participants then toured the facilities of several U.S. mills: Alamac American Knits, Antex Knitting Mills, Buhler Quality Yarns, Carolina Cotton Works, Contempora Fabrics, Cotswold Industries, Frontier Spinning Mills, Hamrick Mills, King America Textile Group/ Milliken, Parkdale Mills, Swisstex Direct, Tuscarora Yarns, and Zagis USA.
The COTTON USA Sourcing Program seeks to develop business relationships throughout the cotton textile and apparel chain with the objective of increasing exports of U.S. manufactured cotton products to the Western Hemisphere.
